Parma City Buyback

district

Parma City Schools was planning a summer refresh and migration of approximately 6,000 Mac’s and iPad’s. Dan Gedeon, End User Support Supervisor, knew that he needed the assistance of a highly qualified team to help make the transition go smoothly. In order to help fund the new equipment Parma needed to maximize the sale of their used 4,400 MacBook Air’s, 1,500 iPad Mini’s and 300 iPad 4’s.

“After reaching out to and hearing back from multiple companies, Tech to School was able to offer Parma City Schools the best buyback price by a considerable margin. Throughout the entire process Cary Smith, Director of Purchasing, was in constant contact ensuring everything was running smoothly and fitting to our timeline. Once the dust settled, a very large project was completed in a short time without issue thanks to Tech to School!”

Midway ISD

Midway ISD refreshed a large fleet of iPads. They have a one-to-one implementation in nearly all grades and well over 10,000 deployed devices. This was the first large-scale equipment replacement since the initiation of the program. Some of the early considerations involved the logistics process and the personnel that would be required to pack and remove the equipment given the unique facility requirements. We were able to coordinate internal resources with external labor and logistics partners to effect an efficient and organized removal of equipment that satisfied all customer requirements.

“Midway ISD was pleased with the entire process from start to finish. They evaluated our hardware and formed a relationship with a personal touch. Communication with the Director of Purchasing, Jason, was timely and succinct. The logistics of the pickup of hardware went well. We’ve used other partners for buyback programs, but they excelled in creating a custom fit for our specific challenges. We would do business with them again.”

“When you are placing an order for school issued devices for every student in your school, the task can seem overwhelming and daunting! Not with Tech to School. We researched different devices and companies for months, trying to decide what was best for our school. One phone call to Tech to School, and all of my questions were answered.  I felt confident moving forward and purchasing 78 MacBooks from them. Not only were they able to give me specs and statistics on longevity of devices, they also offered a warranty.  Over the last several years, I have had very few issues with all of the devices we have purchased from Tech to School, but, what I can tell you is that the instant I detected a problem of any sort, Bonny and her team of people worked to make it right.  I have never gone without a device, or had to suffer with a lemon.  Tech to School takes the cake with customer service.  The are truly outstanding.”

Introducing Tech to School

ttslogoretinabig

Mac to School is now Tech to School.
Same great people, service and products, just a new name.

So why the change?

We wanted a new company name that would be more inclusive of different technology offerings while still keeping our focus on our education customers.

Will you still focus on Apple devices?

Absolutely. We’ve been an Apple centric company for over 15 years and will continue to be a leader in the space. We just want to open the door to other technology offerings to better server our education customers.

Did Apple make you change your name?

No. Although we are not an official Apple partner we’ve always enjoyed a good relationship with them and will continue to do so.

So did anything else change?

No, just the brand name. All warranties, quotes and service contracts are unchanged.

Our mission is as it was: To provide the best technology to as many students as possible. We believe that the best way to achieve that mission is by working closely with our customers and making great service our driving principle.

We look forward to working with you in the years to come!

Summer Team

MTSG001

Mac to School’s missions is to provide the best technology to as many students as possible. Since 2012, Mac to School has bought and sold Apple devices to K-12 schools in all 50 states, but this year we wanted to do more. We made a concerted effort to help prepare our local youth for their future careers.

This summer alone, Mac to School has hired over 60 high school and college students to work over their summer vacations. These students have earned valuable work experience, been given the opportunity to gives back to students like themselves, and provided an Apple device at a steep discount to further assist with their studies. The feedback we have received from the Mac to School employees and students has been that the program was a resounding success and one we will continue next year. Thanks again to all of our Summer 2016 team!

Summer Tech Checklist

Use this checklist to help take stock of equipment and software

summer-itSummer might mean a long respite for students, but not for IT directors. When I was an ed-tech director for several California school districts, I was too busy responding to problems and meeting teachers’ instructional needs to do much IT planning and assessing during the school year. But summer brought a chance to take a deep breath, take stock of my ed-tech inventory, and prepare for the following year.

Here are some strategies for doing this effectively in your own schools.

Software licensing

Summer is a good time to re-evaluate your current software licenses to determine whether they’re still meeting your needs.

Do you have any pilot projects or free software trials that are ending? If so, how did these go—and is it worth subscribing to continue using the software?

With industry reports indicating that investment in ed tech companies hit $1.87 billion in 2014, it’s no surprise that many entrepreneurs and companies in the consumer sector are considering entering the education market or have already begun making inroads. What many of these business leaders quickly discern is that education is a unique industry and that it’s critical to understand the differences between these markets to be successful.
